“We must remove the rotten head of this police state… the authoritarian Jackal. His time as dictator of this brutal regime is over.

There should be no absolute leader, the government belongs to the people, we are the people, and we will take what is rightfully ours. We will place the government in the hands of the people… restoring the balance of power.

We have enemies. And that means we've stood up for something. Stood up for something important enough to risk our lives:

Our freedom!

And today is the day we obtain our freedom… Today we will free the worlds by overthrowing the men in control of our society. The men who have suppressed us, restrained us… killed us.

We must destroy our enemies… and we will destroy the Jackal.”

An excerpt from a speech by Marshal Maw, shortly before his death at the hand of the Jackal.

BARDOCK
…we know it’s too late, you have to do it; you must lie to them.

MAW
I won’t do it, fabricating something like this will cripple the entire rebellion; at least the men can go into hiding once we’ve lost. I won’t let them suffer for the mistakes I’ve made. I will tell them the truth.

BARDOCK
You know as well as I do that in wartime the truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.

MAW
I can’t do it; my duties lie with the men. I can’t abandon them, letting them die, just so I can live.

BARDOCK
You think that’s its worth dying for a lost cause?

MAW
Yes, freedom is the only thing worth dying for.

BARDOCK
Then do it for her

An excerpt from a conversation between Marshal Maw and Air Chief Marshal Bardock.
